Carbon Re has evolved from University spin out to a company significantly reducing the carbon emissions of the cement industry. Using the latest developments in machine learning and AI, Carbon Re helps industry improve the performance of its existing equipment. Its software has saved 7,000 tonnes of CO2 to date, and is targeting 1Mt of impact by 2023. In future, AI has the potential to have gigatonne scale impact by leveraging the knowledge gained from process control to improve future factories and materials. The session will explore the path to that impact through trends in energy generation, storage and manufacturing.
